Update: STRK Staking via Luganodes is now live on the Staking Rewards App - Stake here now!

Introduction

Luganodes is excited to announce our partnership as a node operator for Starknet, a transformative Layer 2 network built to scale Ethereum while retaining its robust security. By leveraging zero-knowledge STARK proofs, Starknet unlocks transaction efficiency, enabling decentralized applications (dApps) to scale without compromise. Our partnership reinforces Luganodes’ commitment to providing innovative, high-performance blockchain infrastructure tailored for a variety of solutions.

What is Starknet?

Starknet is a Validity-Rollup, also known as a ZK-Rollup, that operates as an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) solution. Designed to enhance Ethereum’s capacity, Starknet bundles thousands of transactions into a single off-chain computation, generating a STARK proof to confirm their validity. This proof is then submitted to Ethereum as one transaction, resulting in vastly increased throughput, faster transaction processing, and significantly lower costs, all while inheriting the security of Ethereum’s settlement layer. With its advanced architecture, this project facilitates dApp scalability on Ethereum without the typical limitations of Layer 1 networks.

Key Components

The architecture consists of three critical components: the Sequencer, the Prover, and the Starknet Core on Ethereum. These elements work together to handle, validate, and securely finalize transactions.

  • Sequencer: As the primary transaction handler, the Sequencer is responsible for ordering and processing transactions. It groups transactions, filtering out unsuccessful ones, and ensures only validated transactions make it into a block. This structured batching allows Starknet’s sequencers to manage far higher transaction volumes than standard Ethereum nodes, optimizing network performance without sacrificing reliability.
  • Prover: Following the Sequencer’s block formation, the Prover verifies each block’s validity by generating a zero-knowledge STARK proof. This process involves an intricate mathematical verification that leaves no room for inaccuracies. Each step of transaction execution is documented in an Execution Trace, while resulting changes to the network’s state are captured in a State Diff. The Prover then assembles these elements into a secure, compact STARK proof for Ethereum verification, ensuring transaction integrity across the network.
  • Secure Settlement on Ethereum: Once created, the STARK proof and State Diff are sent to Ethereum, where they are processed by the Starknet Verifier and Starknet Core smart contracts. The Verifier meticulously examines the proof, rejecting any with inconsistencies, while the Core contract verifies and finalizes the updated Starknet state on Ethereum. This meticulous process guarantees Starknet’s secure integration with Ethereum, providing users with both enhanced scalability and the security of Ethereum’s consensus.

Staking and STRK Token Utility

Staking on Starknet is central to its security and growth, allowing participants to lock STRK tokens and support the network’s decentralized infrastructure. The STRK token is used for paying transaction fees, staking, and governance, providing utility across Starknet’s ecosystem. Stakers have the option to delegate tokens to validators, securing the network while earning rewards for their participation. The modular staking system, designed for future scalability, ensures flexibility and compatibility with its evolving architecture.

Luganodes X Starknet

Luganodes is joining Starknet as a staking service provider, further strengthening the network by ensuring high availability and security. By operating on Starknet, Luganodes not only supports the generation of STARK proofs but also contributes to the validation and verification processes crucial to Starknet’s function. As a provider, we offer a reliable infrastructure that enables the network to handle increased volumes and maintain low fees for users and developers alike.

Conclusion

Luganodes is excited to collaborate with Starknet, championing a scalable, decentralized Ethereum Layer 2 solution powered by ZK-STARKs. Together with Starknet, Luganodes is paving the way for a more efficient, accessible, and scalable future for Ethereum and its decentralized applications. Stay tuned as we continue to support Starknet’s roadmap toward a fully decentralized network, empowering developers and users worldwide.
